SHAH ALAM, Aug 27 — Selangor students from families earning RM5,000 and below are encouraged to apply for the Higher Learning Institute Gift (Hadiah Pengajian Institut Pengajian Tinggi or HPIPT).

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari says the programme better known as University Admission Gift (Hadiah Masuk Universiti) offers a RM1,000 incentive for qualified families.

“The State Government allocates 14 per cent of the Selangor Budget 2020 for education to address the significance of education for Selangor towards building a progressive society in line with the state’s agenda to become a premier Smart State in Asean by 2025,” said Amirudin through his official Facebook page.

He said application for HPIPT can be made at the website hpipt.selangor.gov.my before September 11, 2020.

The HPIPT started in 2008 for students from families earning RM3,000 and below to enable them to continue their studies in public or private higher education institutions.

Nonetheless, the programme has been improved by increasing the household income requirement.
