SHAH ALAM, Aug 21 — The BooksFly2U book loan service launched by the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) is able to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection in public places.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the effort was in line with the new norm without having to sacrifice the reading habit of the people.

“PPAS has taken a proactive approach to promote reading culture by providing e-call book borrowing services.

“Take this opportunity using WhatsApp at 010-8491488 or call 03-55197667 for more information. With knowledge, we are able to develop Selangor further and make it more developed, “said Amirudin on his Twitter yesterday.

With the program launched on July 16, borrowers only need to make a phone call or send an order with the book title to that number which operates every day except on public holidays, from 9am to 5pm.

Within two days, the library staff will arrange delivery using the e-call service, while the cost of delivery and return of books is borne by the borrower.

PPAS previously said the Harry Potter fantasy novel by J. K. Rowling and the children’s book by renowned author Enid Blyton are among the most popular copies borrowed through BooksFly2U.

Its director, Mastura Mohamad said 12-year-olds are the youngest book borrowers where the total number of borrowers is now recorded at over 200 people.
