MBSA tables 2021 Budget worth RM498.82mln

SHAH ALAM, Sept 29 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has tabled the 2021 Budget with an estimated total of RM498.82 and an expected deficit of RM28.06 million.

The Shah Alam mayor Datuk Haris Kasim said RM396.14 million will be used for the management expenditure and RM130.74million for development expenditures, whereas the deficit will be borne by MBSA’s reserves.

“The largest allocation for management expenditure is for services and supply, which involves a total of RM307million or 77.5 per cent of the total,” he said.

“Development expenditure has shown an increase, which is RM9.7 million compared to the previous year, with 56 per cent of the overall allocation used for construction projects and upgrading of buildings,” said Haris Kasim at a press conference after presenting the MBSA 2021 Budget with the theme of pioneering the New Norm for a Better Shah Alam, at Wisma MBSA today.  

He said the estimated revenue in 2021 is expected to increase as much as 3.8 per cent, which is from RM480.57 million to RM498.82 million. 

“The assessment tax is expected to contribute RM323.18 million or 64.8 per cent of the overall sum; non-tax revenue (RM166.14 million or 33.3 per cent ) and non-revenue collection (RM9.5 million or 1.9 per cent),” he noted.
