Career fair attracts over 8,000 participants — Selangor exco

SHAH ALAM, Sept 30 — A total of 8,150 individuals have registered as participants in the Selangor Mega Job Fair 2020, which will take place in Shah Alam on October 3.

Selangor Youth, Sports Development and Human Resource Development Committee chairman Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the attendance of the participants will be conducted in phases to avoid congestion at the entrance.

“Only 400 visitors are allowed into the premise at one time to enable us to practise social distancing,” Mohd Khairuddin said when contacted.

He said the organiser will also follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) which includes temperature checks, placement of hand sanitisers and reminders to wear face masks.

“We will also cooperate with authorities such as the police and the Malaysian Volunteer Corps Department (Rela) to ensure the SOPs are followed and the programme runs smoothly,” said Mohd Khairuddin.

The Selangor Mega Job Fair 2020 will kick-off on October 3 and is held in stages until December 29, offering 24,500 job opportunities. This includes the Selangor’s Roda Darul Ehsan Initiative (RiDE), which is a programme to train urban youths from poor families to become e-hailing riders.

The first series of the job fair starts at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) and will run for two days with a target of 15,000 visitors.

Those interested to come to the job fair can register online starting from September 15 at nfdot.com/ereg/views/jobfair/. Applicants will receive a QR code to enter via a special lane at each job fair location.

The nine locations and dates of the job fair are as follow:

1. SACC, Shah Alam (October 3 and 4)
2. Stadium Tertutup, Kuala Selangor (October 10 and 11)
3. Dewan Orang Ramai Telok Panglima Garang, Kuala Langat (October 24 and 25)
4. Pusat Komuniti Gombak, Jalan Madrasah, Gombak (November 7 and 8)
5. Dewan Seri Cempaka Kajang, Hulu Langat (November 14 and 15)
6. Dewan Orang Ramai Dengkil, Sepang (November 21 and 22)
7. Dewan Merdeka Kuala Kubu Bharu, Hulu Selangor (December 5 and 6)
8. Kompleks Sukan Sabak Bernam (December 12 and 13)
9. Dewan Hamzah, Klang (December 28 and 29)
