Selangor plans to set up a handicraft centre

By Zareef Muzammil

BAYAN LEPAS, Sept 11 — Selangor government plans to set up a handicraft centre as a strategy to showcase and market its entrepreneurs various products.

State Entrepreneur, Rural, Village and Traditional Village Development Committee chairman Rodziah Ismail said they will conduct a public hearing session with all the entrepreneurs in the industry before deciding the next course of action.

“In this public hearing session, all handicrafts entrepreneurs will be gathered to hear out their constant problems in showcasing their products.

“Should questions be raised, we will look into its details one by one because in the end, we want Selangor to have its own product which it can be proud of like other states,” said Rodziah at the World Hospitality, Lifestyle and Entertainment Exhibition and Conference (Whole Penang 2020) in Penang, here yesterday.

She added her team will also take 20 handicraft entrepreneurs to the Terengganu Entrepreneurs Development Foundation on September 20 for them to visit the state’s food and handicraft entrepreneurs.

“Terengganu is an ideal location for us to learn on how entrepreneurs there conserve handicrafts, especially since Selangor is moving into elevating its entrepreneurs’ handicrafts products.

“This is because the business sector is not only on food, services or fresh produce. When we segmentalise the handicrafts entrepreneurs it will then become more structured thus making it easier to promote the product,” said Rodziah.
