SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 – The Selangor state government has allocated RM11 million for the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2021 in its Belanjawan Selangor 2021 (2021 Selangor Budget), under the fifth strategy, which focuses on boosting efforts for economic recovery and industrial development amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

The SIBS is aimed at promoting and strengthening Selangor as an attractive global commercial hub in Asean, said Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari during the tabling of the state budget today.

“In our bid to promote and strengthen the state of Selangor as a commercial hub in the Asean region, the administration through Invest Selangor Bhd will continue to organise the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2021 with an allocated sum of RM11 million.

“A conducive economic ecosystem on the back of infrastructural convenience and investor-friendly policies have always been Selangor’s exceptional criteria.

“However, in order for us to emerge from this Covid-19 pandemic, new policies and initiatives have to be introduced to keep Selangor as the top choice destination for investments in Malaysia due to its stability that continues to create quality employment opportunities for the people as a whole,” he added.

Aside from SIBS, the state also introduced the Selangor Business Hub (SBH), a virtual business gateway that offers an alternative for state-based industrial and investment promotional activities following the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the Selangor Aviation Showcase 2021 for the aerospace industry as its main focus under the fifth strategy.

A total expenditure of RM2.323 billion has been allocated for the state budget which was tabled today with the theme ‘Shaping New Reality: Empowering Economic Dignity the Foundation for People’s Resilience’ and comprises five main strategies.

The strategies include Selangor Digitalisation Agenda; Peaceful Selangor, Prosperous Ummah; Driving Value Creation and Developing Human Resource; Strengthen Sustainable Environment, Resources, and Food Security and Supply Chain; Revitalising Economic Recovery and Development of Industries.
