KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 — Several elected representatives here expressed hope that the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will not take enforcement action against cars parked on the road shoulder within this one month period.
This is following the implementation of a new method for the payment of street parking in the city.
In a joint statement today, they said the new system would definitely affect some users in terms of switching from the old method to a new one, taking into account several issues including the JomParking account balance that needs to be transferred or returned.
“Those who are not familiar with the e-wallet system will also be affected and therefore, awareness campaigns on the matter should be held immediately,” read the statement.
The joint statement was issued by Cheras member of Parliament (MP) Tan Kok Wai; Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil; Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh; Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad; Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun; Seputeh MP Teresa Kok; Batu MP P. Prabakaran; Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng and Wangsa Maju MP Datin Dr Tan Yee Kew.
The MPs through the joint statement also urged the concerned parties to immediately resolve the JomParking account balance issue, either by transferring the balance to other e-wallet accounts selected by the user or returning it to the user.
DBKL in a statement issued yesterday said that it would adopt a new method for the payment of street parking in the city beginning today.
It said that parking payments would now be done through mobile applications and e-wallets, namely the EZ Smart Park, Flexiparking, Wilayah Parking or M-Cash to replace the use of parking payment machines.
