Covid-19: MOH identifies four new clusters yesterday — Health DG

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 29 — The Health Ministry (MOH) has identified four new clusters, namely, Seri Gaya Cluster, Greenhill Cluster, Idaman Cluster and Bayu Cluster, bringing  the total number of clusters to 234.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Seri Gaya Cluster involved the districts of Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran in Sabah with 17 Covid-19 positive cases detected, while 47 other individuals confirmed negative as of 12 noon yesterday.

“The index case for this cluster (case 14153) was identified as Covid-19 positive on October 27. Close contact screening detected another 16 Covid-19 positive cases.

“All cases have been admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital,” he said during the daily Covid-19 media briefing.

He said that the Greenhill Cluster was reported in Kuching and Miri, Sarawak with the index case for the cluster (case 27786) tested positive for Covid-19 on October 25.

“Close contact screenings detected another 24 new Covid-19 positive cases. All cases have been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital and Miri Hospital.

“As at 12 noon yesterday, a total of 51 individuals were screened and 25 tested positive (21 new cases) for Covid-19 and 26 individuals are still waiting for their results,” he said.

Dr Noor Hisham added that the Idaman Cluster was detected in Petaling and Gombak districts in Selangor as well as Titiwangsa and Cheras districts in Kuala Lumpur, with 11 new positive cases, while 300 individuals tested negative from a total of 481 individuals screened as of 12 noon yesterday.

“The index case for this cluster (case 16044) tested positive for Covid-19 on October 27. Close contact screening detected 10 more positive cases,” he said, adding that all cases have been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Meanwhile for the Bayu Cluster, he said it involved Johor Bahru and Muar districts in Johor, with the case index for the cluster (case 25677) confirmed positive for the virus on October 23. 

“Close contact screening detected another seven new Covid-19 positive cases. All cases have been admitted to the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang, Johor.

“As at 12 noon yesterday, a total of 104 individuals have been screened, and eight cases tested positive (four new cases) for Covid-19, 60 individuals were confirmed negative and 36 individuals are still waiting for their results,” he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said that as at yesterday, MOH recorded 123 active clusters, with 37 of them recording an increase in cases.
