Eateries with bars in Selangor only allowed to operate till 11pm

SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — The operating hours of all eateries with bars in Selangor is limited until 11pm effective tomorrow, says its Menteri Besar.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari in a statement today said this is part of the state government’s effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 following the recent spike in daily cases.

“Those who fail to comply with the rule would have their business licences revoked immediately,” the statement read.

Amirudin said the matter was decided at a special meeting with the State Security Council Committee and the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC), held via online earlier today.

The number of new infections in Selangor had doubled today with a total of 31 cases, compared to the 13 cases recorded yesterday. Two clusters were also newly discovered — the Seri Setia Cluster in Gombak and Seri Anggerik Cluster in Hulu Selangor.

The country also saw the highest number of daily cases today with 287 infections, bringing the cumulative figure to 11,771, with 1,540 active cases.

Previously on May 17, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yakoob had said pubs, bars and clubs are not allowed to operate during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) as they are categorised as entertainment outlets.
