SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has underlined several conditions for Muslim couples in Selangor planning to wed during the conditional movement control order (CMCO), which is allowed to be held at the Islamic Religious District Offices beginning November 2.
Its director Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the conditions, which only allows of the participation of three people — bride, groom and the wali (custodian), were set following the extension of the CMCO in Selangor until November 9.
He said the ‘akad nikah’ can only be carried out by appointment from 9am to 4pm.
“Only three people are allowed to attend the ceremony, which includes the bride, groom and the wali (custodian), and only five ceremonies are allowed to be held in a day from Monday to Friday,” he said in a statement today.
Mohd Shahzihan said the ceremony is allowed for couples in Selangor or brides and grooms from outside of Selangor that were given the permission to cross borders.
He said the ‘akad nikah’ ceremonies held at the selected Islamic Religious District Offices are allowed for those with the permission of the marriage registrar.
“Appointments for the solemnisation ceremony can be made by contacting the Islamic Religious District Offices,” he added.
