SHAH ALAM, Oct 1 — The Selangor government will announce several proactive measures to curb the community infection of Covid-19, following the surge in new cases recorded in the state.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the steps would ensure that the matter is dealt with immediately.

“The state government is continuously monitoring the current Covid-19 situation in Selangor.

“Following the consistent increase in cases, I have called for a meeting with the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) as well as the State Security Council Committee to discuss the next course of action,” he said on a Facebook post yesterday.

In the past four days, Selangor had recorded double-digits in daily Covid-19 cases.

Yesterday, the state registered 10 new infections, bringing the cumulative total to 2,271 with 71 active cases, of which 53 are local transmissions.

Following the surge in daily new infections, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had revealed that Selangor recorded a higher 1.95, much higher than Sabah, which is the value that indicates how fast Covid-19 is spreading.
