SHAH ALAM, Oct 1 — The people of Selangor continues to abide by the ban on smoking at all playgrounds and recreational parks, which came into force since July.

State Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said the improved condition of the public parks makes the visitors feel safer and comfortable.

“This is a good development and as of now, no one has been compounded for breaking the rules. I hope that the public would continue abiding by the law.

“The people should also steer away from vaping and drinking (at the parks),” he told Ng told SelangorKini when contacted.

On July 14, Selangor became the first state to drinking and smoking at all playgrounds and recreational parks throughout the state.

Local authorities in Selangor have been instructed to monitor the areas and anyone caught committing an offence can be fined RM1,000 under the Selangor Local Councils Park Bylaw 2005.
