20 participants of career roadshow receive job offers

SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — A total of 20 participants of the Jelajah Selangor Bekerja 2020 (Selangor Jobs Exploration 2020) held at the Kuala Selangor Indoor Stadium yesterday were offered employment.

State executive councillor for youth development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said they were accepted as workers in the services, food and beverages and industrial sectors.

“Even though there were thousands of applicants, the organiser could only call around 100 people to be interviewed, due to a directive from the National Security Council (NSC).

“The programme offers more than 2,000 jobs from 13 companies. We admit we are a bit disappointed but must abide by the NSC’s ruling for the safety of all parties,” he said to SelangorKini today.

He said the state government will submit an appeal to the NSC to set the limit on the number of participants based on the size of the venue.

“For example, if the programme is held in a stadium, the number of participants allowed can be increased to 200 people or more because space is bigger,” he said.

Selangor Jobs Exploration 2020 which is organised by the state government had received 9,969 applications since its registration was opened on September 15.

More than 90 companies are taking part in the programme that kicks off in Kuala Selangor yesterday, and to be followed by Gombak (November 21), Paya Jaras (November 22), Hulu Langat (December 29) and Shah Alam (December 5 and 6).

Among the jobs offered are as lecturers, Al-Quran tutor, sales manager, research officer, technician, production operator, call operator, terminal tractor operator and storekeeper.
