Covid-19: Hulu Langat records 71 new infections out of 151 cases in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — The Hulu Langat district has recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in Selangor with a total of 71 infections.

Selangor saw a total of 151 daily cases today from the 1,103 new infections recorded nationwide.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cases in Selangor include one imported infection involving a local who came back from Saudi Arabia.

“Out of the total new (local) cases, 99 were from existing clusters, 24 from the screening of positive Covid-19 close contacts, two from Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI), and 25 from other Covid-19 testings,” he said in a statement today.

According to the data by the Selangor Health Department’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), the Klang district recorded the second-highest figure with 33 cases, followed by Sepang (13), Petaling (11), Kuala Langat (8), Gombak (4) and Hulu Selangor (1).

No new case was registered in Kuala Selangor while Sabak Bernam remains a green zone with zero active cases.

According to the breakdown of infections by sub-districts (mukim), Kajang continues to lead with 67 cases recorded today.

This is followed by Klang with 25 cases, Kapar (13), Labu (8), while four cases each in Teluk Panglima Garang, Damansara and Sungai Buloh.

Three cases were recorded each in Sepang and Tanjung 12 (2), two infections each in Batu, Kuang, Dengkil, Cheras, Tanjung 12 (1), Bukit Raja and Petaling, and one case recorded each in Hulu Kelang, Ampang, Beranang, Ampang Pecah and Batang Kali.

Meanwhile, the state reported 189 patients to have recovered from the coronavirus out of the total 821 recoveries recorded in the country today.

The cumulative figure in Selangor is at 7,775 out of the accumulated 48,520 Covid-19 cases nationwide.
