New Covid-19 cases in Selangor drop, one new cluster identified

SHAH ALAM, Nov 20 — Selangor has registered 153 new Covid-19 cases today, which saw a drop from yesterday’s record-high 407 infections, out of the total 958 daily cases recorded in the country.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the total daily cases reported in the state, 103 were from existing clusters, 27 cases from close-contact screenings and 23 others were identified from other Covid-19 screenings.

He said a new cluster was identified in Selangor, named the Sri Jujur Cluster, which involves the Klang, Sepang and Petaling districts and saw 17 new infections.

“The three states recording the highest number of cases today are Sabah, with 512 cases (53.4 per cent), followed by Selangor dan Negeri Sembilan, with 153 cases (16 per cent) reported each.

“The high number of cases in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan is due to the increase of infections in existing clusters as well as new clusters identified,” he said in a statement today.

Based on the data by the Selangor Health Department’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), Klang topped the list with 85 new cases followed by Petaling (30), Hulu Langat (20), Sepang (8), Kuala Langat (7) and Gombak (3).

No new cases were recorded in Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor.

Meanwhile, 240 patients have recovered in the state out of the 956 recoveries recorded nationwide.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Selangor stands at 8,747 out of the accumulated 52,638 infections in Malaysia.

The state registered a total of 2,058 active Covid-19 cases.
