Two new Covid-19 clusters identified — Health DG

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 3 — Two new Covid-19 clusters were identified today in Negeri Sembilan and Kedah as well as in Penang, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said 12 Covid-19 positive cases were detected in the Cergas cluster in Seremban with the index case testing positive on October 29 before 11 more positive cases were detected through close contact screening.

“All of them are being treated at the Rembau hospital, Tampin hospital and also the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban,” he said at a media conference on Covid-19 developments here today.

He said another cluster, the Permatang cluster, was detected in Kulim, Kedah and in Seberang Perai Tengah, Seberang Perai Utara and the northeast district in Penang.

He said the index case, a Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) case, tested positive on October 31 and was admitted to Penang Hospital’s intensive care unit, adding that seven more close contacts who tested positive are also being treated at the same hospital.
