Daily Covid-19 cases in Selangor drop to 401

SHAH ALAM, Dec 19 — Selangor has today recorded a drop in new Covid-19 cases with 401 local infections out of the 1,153 new daily cases registered nationwide, compared to yesterday’s 692 cases, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Dr Noor Hisham, however, said that the state recorded the highest infections in the country today followed by Kuala Lumpur (281) and Sabah (199).

“A total of 130 cases were detected from existing clusters, 119 from close-contact screenings and 126 cases were identified from other Covid-19 screenings.

“A total of 49 cases were identified through the new Tapak Bina Jalan Zuhrah Cluster in Petaling district,” said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement today.

Meanwhile, the data by the Selangor State Health Department (JKNS) showed 289 people have recovered and allowed to be discharged from the hospital, bringing the total number of recoveries in the state to 15,798.

The death toll remains at 35 and new active cases were at 8,191.

As of noon today, the country recorded a total of 1,153 new infections with two imported cases bringing the cumulative total of Covid-19 infections recorded nationwide to 91,969.
