SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — The Selangor government is confident that the state’s tourism sector affected by the Covid-19 pandemic will rebound.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the various unique locations in the state will drive tourist traffic to Selangor.
“Selangor has many unique and attractive places to visit as evident by the 2019 statistics.
“Therefore the state government is very confident in boosting the tourism sector that was affected by Covid-19,” he said in Facebook today.
He said Tourism Selangor recently launched the ‘Nak bercuti? Pusing Selangor dulu!’ (Eager to travel? Explore Selangor first!) campaign to encourage people to travel to various interesting destinations in the state.
He added the state government also implemented the Tourism Voucher Subsidy Redemption programme valued at RM200 for each individual as an incentive.
Last week Amirudin announced that Selangor recorded the highest number of domestic visitors in Malaysia at 33.6 million people last year.
According to him, the 2019 Domestic Tourism Survey report shows that the state surpassed Kuala Lumpur (22.6 million visitors), Sabah (22 million), Perak (21.1 million) and Sarawak (19.8 million).
