SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — The purpose of the mass Covid-19 community screenings initiated by the Selangor government is to stop the pandemic from worsening.

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said communities should seize the opportunity to make use of the programme as it is free of charge.

“The Selangor government has been actively conducting Covid-19 health screenings in various communities, hence, the rising number of cases (in the state). Our mission is to ensure that the virus does not spread and can be curbed earliest possible,” she said during a talk show programme called Virtual Family Picnic on her Facebook page yesterday.

She said the public must also give cooperation to health officers by taking part in the programme carried out at their residential areas.

“Most importantly, we must break the chain of infection together, do not panic and continue to adhere to the standard operating procedure (SOP),” she added.

The state government had initiated the mass Covid-19 community health screenings since April 12, 2020, which started in Hulu Langat.

The programme offers the method of community screening operations as well as drive-through service.
