State government reviewing location of Selangor Agro Market

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, Jan 13 — The state government will review the location of Selangor Agro Market especially those operating on the same site or near the farmers’ market (pasar tani).

State executive councillor for agricultural modernisation and agro-based Industry Izham Hashim said the move was to expand the operation of the market throughout the state to make it easier for the people to buy fresh and affordable agricultural products.

“For example, if the farmers’ market is opened in Section 13, Shah Alam, we think the agro market should operate in other areas to ensure that people everywhere will get its benefit.

“This proposal is being considered, God willing, I will discuss it with the relevant agencies as soon as possible,” said Izham after visiting the farmers’ market at the Shah Alam Stadium here today.

He said the new location of the agro market will also take into account the readiness of the operators as it involves sales of produce directly from the farm.

Selangor Agro Market locations are in Dengkil, Puchong, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam, Laman Niaga Komuniti Bandar Baru Bangi, Pasar Tani Selayang, My Farm Outlet Putrajaya, Section 13 and Section 15 in Shah Alam.
