Sungai Selisek treatment plant suspended due to rising water level

SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 — The Sungai Selisek Water Treatment Plant (WTP) operations have been suspended at 5.40pm following the rise of water to a critical level at the surface intake due to continuous downpour today.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) Corporate Communications head Elina Baseri said following the suspension, eight areas in Hulu Selangor would be facing an unscheduled water disruption.

“Among the areas affected are Kampung Sungai Nilam, Kampung Seri Pagi, Kampung Lalang, Rumah Murah PKT 2 Sungai Selisek, Kampung Serigala, Kampung Orang Asli, Kampung Bahom, Kampung Sekolah, Kuarters Klinik and Kampung Gesir Tengah.

“The operation of the Sungai Selisek WTP is yet to be determined as the rain has not subsided and the water level is still at a critical level,” said Elina Baseri in a statement today.

She said Air Selangor also needs to ensure that all the equipment at the WTP are in good condition and can restart without causing any injury to its personnel especially where it involves electric currents.

Updated information on the latest development will be informed through Air Selangor website at www.airselangor.com.
