Covid-19: 3,384 new cases, 13 fatalities on Feb 11

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 — Malaysia today recorded 3,384 new Covid-19 daily cases, taking the total infection tally to 254,988, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said 13 fatalities were reported today, taking the death toll to 936.

A total of 3,774 recoveries were also recorded while the total number of active cases with infectivity was now 51,783.

“Of the new cases, 15 were import cases who were infected abroad while the remaining 3,369 were local transmissions,” he said in a statement on Covid-19 development today.

He said Selangor continued to record the highest number of daily cases, with 1,082, followed by Johor (777), Kuala Lumpur (435), Kedah (228), Sarawak (184), Penang (144), Sabah (142), Melaka (101), Negeri Sembilan (89), Perak (82), Kelantan (48), Terengganu (26), Pahang (21), Labuan (14), Putrajaya (seven) and Perlis (four).

He said 259 cases were being treated in intensive care units, with 122 of them intubated.

Dr Noor Hisham said that 17 new clusters were detected today, with 13 of them involving workplaces in Selangor, Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Kedah.

The workplace clusters in Selangor are Subang Delima, Jalan Bukit Sentosa and Lembah Subang Construction Site while the five in Johor are Jalan Air Hitam, Jalan Perindustrian Getah, Kampung Tanjung Selabu, Jalan Raja Muar and Jalan Gemilang Lima.

“The workplace clusters in Kuala Lumpur are Jalan Berhala, Jalan Telawi and Bukit Angkasa while the two in Kedah are Perdana and Dedap.

“As for the other four clusters, two community clusters were detected in Jalan Bakawali Ramun (Johor) and Nanga Lijan (Sarawak), one high-risk group cluster in Jalan Bukit Baru (Melaka) and one detention centre cluster in Tembok Bendera (Perak),” he said.

He said that six clusters had ended today while there are still 477 active clusters in the country.
