Project to solve Jalan Sungai Chua flash flood will complete end of March

SHAH ALAM, Feb 25 — Work to upgrade the drainage system behind Winnie Plaza, Jalan Sungai Chua, in Kajang is expected to be fully completed by the end of March.

Balakong state assemblyman Wong Siew Ki said the progress of the project to solve the flash flood incident is now at 90 per cent since it started about two years ago.

“This area is one of the hotspots of floods if it rains heavily, so it is hoped that the repair will allow the water to flow more smoothly to Sungai Langat,” she said when contacted.

According to her, the state government has allocated more than RM1 million for the project which is run by the Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department with some of the funds used for utility cable alignment.

“Many think this project is not running, actually it takes time because it involves huge costs. We are thankful to all parties who made it happen,” said Wong.
