SHAH ALAM, Feb 8 — The Selangor Xtiv Virtual 2021 e-sports competition, which is scheduled to start in March, aims to see the participation of one million youths from within and outside the country.

State executive councillor for sports Mohd Khairuddin Othman said the e-games involve 10 phases that will be held until December, offering total prizes worth RM250,000.

“The virtual sports event include Mobile Legends, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PuBG), Call of Duty, Pro Evolution Soccer (PES21) and FIFA21,” he told SelangorKini.

Mohd Khairuddin said this time, the tournament also focuses on talent development and providing in-depth knowledge related to electronic sports.

“It includes giving exposure to players on managing game reviews (game casting) via online,” said Mohd Khairuddin.

Selangor is the only state to have successfully organised a large scale virtual sports competition.

The move is in line with the current demand as well as a platform to highlight e-sports talent.
