SHAH ALAM, March 15 — The State Executive Council meeting will discuss the need to hold the state assembly sitting during the current state of emergency in order to review the 2021 Selangor Budget, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Menteri Besar said he will seek an audience with Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to get advise on the matter as the Selangor Sultan is also involved with the opening of the state legislative assembly
“The opening (of the sitting) should have been in this month but it has been postponed due to the state of emergency. However, the laws can still be amended.
“If there is a need, the state government can call the state assemblymen to hold a meeting. But I will first seek advice from Sultan Sharafuddin before obtaining the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he said when met during his visit to the PKNS flat Block 48 in Section 7, here yesterday.
Amirudin said if the state assembly sitting cannot be held, the state government will find other alternatives and call the state representatives for a question and answer session.
“The session will either be held formally or informally. This way, we would be able to get their feedback,” he added.
On January 12, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had proclaimed a state of emergency nationwide from until August 1 as a proactive measure to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
