Selangor Fama targets 80 per cent opening of pre-Ramadan, pre-Aidilfitri markets

SHAH ALAM, March 18 — The Selangor Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) is targeting the opening of 40 pre-Ramadan and pre-Aidilfitri markets or 80 per cent of the 50 existing farmers’ markets in the state.

Selangor Fama director Abdul Rashid Bahri said the pre-Ramadan market, which would be opened a day before fasting, and the pre-Aidilfitri market, which would operate three days before Hari Raya, would focus on selling basic goods and necessities for Ramadan and Hari Raya celebrations.

Abdul Rashid said that the markets would comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“Fama will focus on products to prepare for Ramadan in the pre-Ramadan market. Similarly, the pre-Aidilfitri market will see Fama entrepreneurs selling basic festive items for the Hari Raya celebrations,” he said in conjunction with the opening of the 50th TTDI Jaya Farmers’ Market, near here, yesterday.
