SHAH ALAM, March 8 — MCIS Life yearly running event, the Malaysia Women Marathon (MWM), is held virtually from March 8 to April 8.

Tourism Selangor general manager Azrul Shah Mohamad said the programme, which enters its ninth year, targets more than 2,000 participants to take part in the new norm following the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We welcome women, men or teenagers aged 15 years and above to participate in running and cycling events, and together stay healthy while adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“Participants can do it indoors or outdoors and complete the course using mobile technology to record their distance and time to be sent to the event organiser,” he said in a statement.

He said the programme is held in conjunction with the International Women’s Day 2021 celebration which carries the theme #ChooseToChallenge.

The event will launch via Facebook and YouTube and features female figures from various local industries including singer Elvira Arul and actress Vanidah Imran.

This year’s MCIS Life MWM offers a wider selection of categories including:

• The time to finish the run is a month: March 8 – April 8
• Four running distance options: 50km, 100km, 150km or 250km which can be completed in stages over a month
• Cycling participants need a distance of 400km
• Elite categories are available for runners who want to try a half marathon run or a full marathon run

At the same time, participants are also encouraged to use the hashtag #NakBerlariPusingSelangorDulu to promote the Tourism Selangor domestic tourism campaign ‘Nak Bercuti? Pusing Selangor Dulu’ (Eager to travel? Explore Selangor first!).
