MB worried people’s careless attitude might trigger fourth wave of Covid-19

GOMBAK, April 16 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is worried that the careless attitude of the people, especially in this state, will trigger the fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Amirudin said the people’s excitement of going out to buy foods since Ramadan led them to ignore the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that contributed to the increase in cases.

“I am really worried about the creation of Ramadan bazaar cluster, so this should not be the cause of a Covid-19 wave that will be a loss for us all.

“Hopefully this will not happen, that’s why I urge (all) to follow the SOP, God willing, we will all be safe,” he said at the Hijrah Selangor iftar ceremony at the Al-Hijrah banquet hall yesterday.

On Wednesday, Amirudin said the authority will not hesitate to cancel the Ramadan bazaar if the public failed to comply with the SOP.

Malaysia recorded a total of 2,148 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, the highest recorded since March.

Sarawak recorded the highest daily number of cases with 512 cases followed by Selangor (459) and Kelantan (221).
