SHAH ALAM, April 4 — The Selangor government is expected to decide on the Covid-19 vaccine to be purchased from the Federal administration by early May.
Its Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the matter is being discussed in detail with the manufacturers before coming to a conclusion.
“We will decide (on the vaccine selection) as early as May to ensure that by the end of June, we will receive the vaccine and help in speeding up the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme,” he said when met after the launch of the 4B Alumni Association annual general meeting at the De Palma Hotel, here yesterday.
Amirudin said the state government will also launch the Selangor Covid-19 Immunisation Outreach (Imunisal) programme at the Dataran Puchong Permai in Puchong, today.
He said the programme aims at helping the public who do not own a smartphone to register for the Covid-19 vaccine online, with the help of community heads, council members and volunteers.
On March 25, Amirudin had said that the Selangor administration is reviewing five vaccines ordered by the Federal government before making a final decision.
He had on March 18 said that the state government had approved an allocation of at least RM100 million for the purchase of the Covid-19 vaccine for the state.
The Selangor government had previously announced that it intends to purchase some five million doses of vaccine for the people in the state.
