STFC: Cumulative weekly cases up by almost 1,000, continue SOP compliance

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, April 19 — Selangor saw an additional 1,000 accumulated number of new Covid-19 cases within the past week compared to the cumulative figure registered in the previous week.

The Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) said the state recorded a cumulative of 3,302 new Covid-19 infections between April 10 and 16 with 3,289 of the total were local transmissions.

It said between April 3 to 9, the state registered 2,335 accumulated new cases, inclusive of 2,330 local infections.

“This increase is worrying, which is also due to the infectivity rate in the country,” said the task force on Facebook, referring to the national rate of 1.19 as of yesterday.

The STFC had reminded that compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) at several Ramadan bazaars should be tightened and that violation of the guidelines would lead to the closure of the bazaars to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“Continue to adhere to the SOP to make sure that the weekly accumulated number of cases and the infectivity rate would drop.

“Police will tighten monitoring at roadblocks especially for interstate travels to contain the infection,” said the task force.
