MB: Vaccine terms, conditions still under review, rollout targetted in June

AMPANG, May 18 — The delivery of Covid-19 vaccines to the people of Selangor will only be announced after the state government has finalised the agreement made with the manufacturers.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the terms and conditions of the agreement are still being reviewed and the state administration will expect the vaccines to be distributed to the people sometime in June.

“After we have signed an agreement and have confirmed the total number of vaccines we will receive, then I will present on the distribution programme or vaccine delivery.

“We hope that this month we would be able to finalise all the processes and distribute (the vaccine) in June,” said Amirudin when asked about the latest development on the state’s plans to purchase the Covid-19 shots for the Selangor people.

Amirudin was met by the media when visiting the free Covid-19 community screening programme at Dewan Dato’ Ahmad Razali, here today.

Yesterday, state executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud had denied a viral message that claims the state administration will be rolling out 500,000 Sinovac vaccines to the people of Selangor, describing it as false.

She said any statement or official announcement on the Covid-19 vaccine in Selangor will only be issued by Selangor Menteri Besar or herself.

Selangor intends to procure some three to five million doses for the people in the state and had set aside at least RM100 million to make a purchase.
