SHAH ALAM, June 19 — High-speed internet connection will be expanded to another 12 state government agencies this year to support Selangor’s aspiration to become a Smart State by 2025.
Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU) managing director Dr Fahmi Ngah said the 12 agencies include local council (PBT), District and Land Office (PDT) as well as state government subsidiaries.
“We receive good feedback from existing users. This year, SSDU plans to add 12 new entities involving several local councils and PDTs,’ he said when contacted.
He said a high-speed internet connection of 3 Gigabit per second (Gbps) would enable higher data sending and receiving processes compared to other similar facilities in the market.
“With it, Smart Selangor applications such as Smart Selangor Parking, Citizen E-Payment Platform, ‘Scan To Ride’, Selangor Intelligent Transport System and Smart CCTV can run smoothly.
“These services save people time in paying for state government services and reduce the need to do physical transactions at the counter,” he said.
Selangor is recognised as the first state in the country to offer a high-speed internet connection for the public sector through SeGNet.
The SeGNet 3Gbps network is currently being used in Subang Jaya City Council, Kuala Selangor District Council, Hulu Selangor District Council, Selangor C5i Smart Operations Center, SSDC and Center of Excellence at Wisma Ehsan.
