SHAH ALAM, June 30 — Methods on FTTIS (finding, tracing, testing, isolating and supporting), standard operating procedure (SOP) adherence, and vaccination, must be implemented during the full movement control order (MCO) implementation to effectively curb Covid-19.
Selangor Task Force on Covid-19 (STFC) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said if no focus is given on the three aspects then the current MCO is a waste of time.
“It is important for us to make sure that when doing this ‘lockdown’, it is necessary to go along with a three-pronged approach (FTTIS, SOP compliance, vaccination).
“We have to admit that this virus is going to be with us… we have to be smarter, more punch not only on ‘lockdown’,” he said during the Media Selangor’s Bual Bicara virtual talk show titled ‘Finding The Way Out’ that was aired live on Media Selangor’s Facebook page and SelangorTV Youtube channel last night.
Dr Dzulkefly said the current wave was triggered after Aidilfitri where the cluster increased many folds along with the higher number of deaths
“After Hari Raya, we can see several things, which is the post-Hari Raya clusters that jumped three times, deaths as well along with the surge in health facilities use. This is a warning to all of us.
“I think by Aidiladha we need to curb our desires… we have seen on previous Hari Raya how the surge happened,” he said.
Previously, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah informed that a total of 60 festival clusters involving Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Gawai celebrations were detected between May 13 and June 10.
He said the 58 Aidilfitri clusters and the two Gawai celebrations recorded 3,511 positive cases after 13,023 individuals were screened.
