SHAH ALAM, June 18 — This year’s ‘Jelajah Selangor Bekerja’ (Selangor Jobs Exploration) programme scheduled to start in July, have to be postponed to a new date following the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO) 3.0.
State executive councillor for youth development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said based on its planning, the career fairs will visit every district in Selangor to offer employment opportunities to job seekers.
“We offer jobs at all levels from low level to professionals. Holding virtual career fairs is now being considered during the recovery MCO and we target to get between 3,000 to 5,000 participants,” he told SelangorKini.
He said his team is now working to establish cooperation with various sectors to ensure that more individuals will be given job opportunities.
“Employers who participated in last year career fairs have agreed to renew their cooperation. So we hope more individuals affected by Covid-19 can be helped,” he said.
Last year, Jelajah Selangor Bekerja was held at five locations starting in Kuala Selangor, Gombak, Sungai Buloh, Hulu Langat, and Shah Alam.
Among the employment opportunities offered include professor, lecturer, Quran tutors, accountant, sales manager, research officer, technician, meter reader, call centre operator, terminal tractor driver, supervisor and storekeeper.
