SEPANG, JULY 9 — A total of 202 residents in Taman Murni, here, which was imposed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), were tested Covid-19 positive.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said a total of 1,600 residents in the area had undergone the screening operation.

“The area consists of 492 business premises and houses with around 1,600 residents living here. The decision to put the area under the EMCO was done after 114 positive cases were recorded here,” he said when met during a visit to oversee the EMCO and vaccination process of the residents in Taman Murni, today.

Amirudin said stricter enforcement was carried out following the resident’s regular social gatherings which was feared to have triggered another outbreak.

Taman Murni was placed under the EMCO for 14 days from June 30 after the Health Ministry had detected 36 cases in a week and high infectivity rate (Rt).

The action was taken to ease the contact tracing, separation of cases and close contact process as well as limiting the movement within the area.
