9,000 Mentari Court residents to get vaccine shots tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, July 4 — A total of 9,000 residents at Mentari Court in PJS8, Petaling Jaya, will be vaccinated starting from tomorrow.

Petaling district officer Dato’ Johary Anuar said the immunisation process will be carried out in stages after the screening of close contacts and symptomatic individuals are completed today.

“We are not screening everyone due to the high number of residents. The vaccines will be given to those who have been confirmed Covid-19 negative and the ones who are eligible,” he said when contacted.

As of yesterday morning, almost 2,700 residents from Block A and B were screened.

Mentari Court is the first locality in the state placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) to have its residents receive the vaccine shots. The EMCO was enforced on the high-rise residential building after more than 500 Covid-19 cases were detected.

The enhanced restrictions were also imposed on Taman Perumahan SS 91A in Sungai Way and Pangsapuri Westlife – PKNS.

Beginning yesterday, 34 subdistricts in eight Selangor districts are placed under the EMCO for 14 days to curb the spread of Covid-19.
