Meru rep urges factories with high Covid-19 cases to temporarily close

KLANG, July 9 — Any factories which have been identified as the cause of the Covid-19 outbreak must be temporarily suspended, says Meru state assemblyman Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mohd Mokhtar

He said the factories should not be excluded from being imposed with strict action even though the sector plays an important role to the country’s economy.

“I plead to the government to halt their operations as certain factories are still operating despite Covid-19 cases detected among its workers.

“The temporary closure is only for a short period and the move is suggested to ensure that the deadly virus will not spread within the community,” he said after visiting a Top Glove factory, here yesterday.

Mohd Fakhrulrazi further emphasised that the lives of the people should be given ! priority over safeguarding the interests of individuals or companies that want to make a profit.

On June 30, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said 91 per cent of workplace clusters were identified in the state throughout the month of June.

He said from the figure, 80 per cent were from the manufacturing sector and the remaining 11 per cent were from construction sites.
