SHAH ALAM, July 19 — The Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) will receive another 250,000 doses of vaccines under the Operation Surge Capacity vaccination plan, which aims to increase vaccination supply and capacity in Klang Valley, says Dato’ Teng Chang Khim.

The state executive councillor for industry and trade said the supply is expected to arrive in stages between July 23 to 30

“For the initial phase, the supply of vaccines for the first and second dose is estimated at around 40,000 doses.

“Should the vaccine supply arrive according to the schedule, the implementation of Selvax Industry can be carried out more consistently.

“Hence, the state government would like to encourage the companies and industries in Selangor and Klang Valley to register under the programme and get their workers vaccinated,” he said in a joint statement with state executive councillor Rodziah Ismail today.

On July 16, Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (PICK) Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Operation Surge Capacity will be implemented to ensure that all adults in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will at least receive their first Covid-19 vaccine dose by August 1.

The move, which was decided during a meeting with the Greater Klang Valley Task Force, was welcomed by the state government. Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative is done to accelerate vaccination drives in the state.

The Selvax Industry programme has provided five vaccination centres (PPV) in Selangor namely at Tropicana Gardens Mall in Kota Damansara, Evo Mall in Bandar Baru Bangi, De Palma Hotel in Shah Alam, Aurora Place in Bukit Jalil and PKNS Sports Complex in Kelana Jaya.
