SHAH ALAM, July 2 — Food supply distribution is the main focus for Selangor representatives to help residents living in the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) areas.

Seri Setia state assemblyman, Halimey Abu Bakar said the supplies are constantly being added from time to time and expected to reach 3,000 baskets throughout EMCO.

“As of now, a total of 2,200 food baskets have been distributed and the amount is expected to reach 3,000 baskets.

“Besides that, I will also discuss with Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah to provide counselling service to those in need of guidance,” he said when contacted today.

Meanwhile, Pandamaran state assemblyman, Tony Leong Tuck Chee said routine patrol will be increased in residential areas to help identify those who need assistance.

He said, apart from using the existing funds, donations also came from non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“Not everyone wants to raise the white flag, hence I ask the village head to continue with the patrol to find those who need assistance,” he said.

As for Morib state assemblyman, Hasnul Baharuddin, he prepares 500 food baskets which will be distributed to the people in the area especially to small traders who lost their daily incomes.

“This group of people has expressed their concerns due to dwindling incomes and I advised them not to hesitate and quickly see the village head if they need any assistance.

“I also remind them to continue safeguarding themselves from the virus although this area records low numbers of Covid-19 infection,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bandar Utama state assemblywoman, Jamaliah Jamaluddin said she will increase disinfection of public areas and at apartments with high positive cases.

“Aside from food aid, we also provide the Covid-19 patients with medicine and vitamins supply to ensure they stay healthy,” she said.

The EMCO will be enforced for 14 days in 34 sub-districts from eight districts in the state as an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 and it will be extended for another two weeks should it fail to overcome the outbreak.
