Discussions in place in preparation to live with endemic coronavirus — MB

SHAH ALAM, Aug 17 — The Selangor government has begun engaging in discussions with business stakeholders in preparation for once Covid-19 has waned and become endemic.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said a productive engagement with representatives from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (KLSCCCI) was held earlier, which also included state executive councillor for industry Dato’ Teng Chang Khim.

“We have touched upon the idea of a Centralized Labour Quarter (CLB) and how to move forward in accordance to Act 446, among others, in preparation of living side by side with the virus that will become endemic very much soon,” he said on Facebook today, referring to the Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act 1990 (Act 446).

Amirudin said that the state government would continue its business-friendly policies and other initiatives to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) bracing the pandemic storm.

“Through the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) and also the Preventing and Detecting Outbreaks at Ignition Sites (POIS) system, we seek to protect industrial workers, which in turn will help to revive economic activities.

“We will work together to help SMEs in Selangor revive and prosper in the upcoming months,” he said.
