EMCO at Gugusan Semarak ends five days earlier

SHAH ALAM, Aug 15 — The enforcement of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Gugusan Semarak in PJU 5, Kota Damansara ended last night five days ahead of schedule.

Petaling Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Johary Anuar said the decision was made following the completed screenings, tracing of positive cases and vaccination programme that were carried out at the location.

He said throughout the EMCO, a total of 2,514 residents have undergone the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and antigen rapid test kit (RTK-Ag) swab tests with 501 from them were confirmed Covid-19 positive.

He said that some 619 individuals or 20.4 per cent of the residents in the area were vaccinated in which 316 residents received their first dose and the remaining 303 have completed two shots of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“A total of 2,411 residents (79.6 per cent) who were not vaccinated include the active positive cases, have been vaccinated earlier, aged below 18 years old, and have allergies or severe comorbid issue which require them to get the vaccine at hospitals,” he said in a statement last night.

On August 4, Senior Minister Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein had announced the implementation of the EMCO at Gugusan Semarak among 13 other localities from August 6 to 19.
