No compromise on river pollution, Luas takes immediate action — MB

SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — Selangor will not compromise on river pollution in the state, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the Selangor Management Water Authority (Luas) had taken immediate action and conducted at least three inspections following a pollution incident reported in Sungai Langat.

The Menteri Besar said the report involved a paper recycling factory received on April 26.

“The state government will never compromise on any pollution issue,” he said on Facebook today.

On August 8, Luas, in a statement, said the agency had taken proactive measures to ensure that every pollution incident is addressed promptly to ensure that the Selangor’s water resources are well-preserved.

Following the pollution report in Sungai Langat, Luas said the investigation and sampling found that the water quality in the reservoir pond is in good condition, and no pollution was traced.

It added that the premise was inspected by the Environmental Department at least three times to ensure compliance with the rules set by the department.
