Selangor allocates 60,000 vaccine doses for Selvax mobile initiative

HULU SELANGOR, Aug 29 — The Selangor government has allocated 60,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine for its Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) mobile initiative, which is expected to run from mid-September.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said each of the 56 state constituencies will receive between 500 to 1,000 doses, depending on the list of recipients put together by its state representatives and local leaders.

He said the programme will identify individuals who have yet to receive their vaccine shot and living in remote areas such as farms and construction sites as well as those who are afraid to come forward due to incomplete documentation.

“We will work on ensuring that these people are also fully vaccinated based on the principle that we are all not safe until everyone is safe (protected),” said Amirudin when met after a visit to the Selvax Community programme in Batang Kali at Dewan Dato’ Abdul Hamid, here today.

Amirudin said aside from supplying the vaccine doses, the state administration will also provide the necessary facilities, such as transport services, to ensure the Selvax mobile programme runs smoothly.

“The programme does not involve house-to-house visits but we will look for the areas and bring these individuals for them to get vaccinated,” he said.

Selvax was introduced in June with a total allocation of RM200 million involving the inoculation exercise of workers in the state under the Selvax Industry initiatives, involving two million vaccine doses.

The programme also includes the Selvax Community initiative, which involves an allocation of 500,000 doses targeting 250,000 people in the community from the lower-income group, elderly people and recipients of the Peduli Rakyat Initiative.
