Two policemen killed in accident while chasing street racers

KUALA LUMPUR Aug 8 —  Two policemen died in an accident while chasing illegal street racers at KM 24.4 of the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK) Putrajaya bound, early today.

Kajang police chief ACP Mohd Zaid Hassan said Sjn Mohd Arifah Md Yasin, 36, from the Traffic Enforcement Investigation Division and Constable Mohd Muradzi Mohd Nawi, 26, of the D4 Crime Division died at the scene.

In the 1.30am it was reported that the two policemen were on their motorcycles to assist in Ops Samseng Jalanan as this a popular route among illegal street racers.

Mohd Zaid said initial investigation found that the two collided with each other while pursuing the racing suspects.

The bodies of the two policemen were sent to Serdang Hospital for post mortem and police are investigating further to determine the cause of the accident, he said.
