Bukit Tabur: MPAJ seized excavator, barrier stones placed

SHAH ALAM, Sept 12 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has seized an excavator and placed barrier stones at the location of land clearing work which were carried out without approval in Lot 759 Hulu Kelang sub-district.

Its president Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said the action was taken following the complaints on the land clearing activity without approval that went viral on social media yesterday, citing Harian Metro.

“We have seized an excavator and placed barrier stones at the said location to block heavy vehicles from re-entering the area.

“This is a serious issue to MPAJ and we will not compromise with any party that does not comply with the law,” he said yesterday.

According to Mohd Fauzi, the lot is a land with agricultural status. However, after further review was conducted, he said there was no application for clearing the land submitted to the council.

“We took note of the matter and enforcement action was carried out in Lot 759 at about 11am on September 11.

“One unit of excavator was used by the land owner to do the land clearing work and cut the trees,” he said.

He said the action was taken in accordance with Section 70(A) Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133).

Earlier yesterday, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the land clearing activities in Bukit Tabur, Ampang, have nothing to do with the state government and did not receive approval from the local authority (PBT).

Following the issue, Amirudin informed that enforcement officers had been deployed immediately to the location to stop the activity and seized the machinery involved.

The issue was raised after a Twitter user questioned how the land clearing activities could be carried out while hiking activities were not allowed in the area.
