Flash floods affect 1,000 residents in Batu Tiga

SHAH ALAM, Sept 27 — Over 1,000 residents in Kampung Kebun Bunga, Batu Tiga here were affected by flash floods following heavy downpours yesterday.

Kampung Kebun Bunga village chief Johari Mohd Shaari said the incident damaged many appliances in the village’s 300 houses.

“Residents living in low-lying areas are the most affected as their houses were flooded up to knee level.

“It also flooded Surau Al Hasani in the village. damaging its carpets and prayer mats,” he told SelangorKini.

Meanwhile, a survey by SelangorKini found residents busy cleaning their homes after the water receded this morning.

Yesterday evening several areas around Shah Alam city were hit by flash floods, following heavy rain that lasted for several hours.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said several areas in the city were flooded since 3pm yesterday, with the worst affected location around the Shah Alam Stadium in Section 13.

According to him, several roads around the area were flooded up to four feet, causing a vehicle to be stranded in a flash flood while its driver managed to escape.
