Air Selangor: Upgrading, maintenance works essential to avoid recurring incidents

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Oct 6 — The upgrading and maintenance works for critical assets that will be carried out by Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) is to prevent repeated incidents of damages or leakages.

In an infographic on Facebook, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said if maintenance works are not carried out, it can cause damage and unscheduled water supply disruptions in the future.

Therefore he advised consumers to stockpile water and refer to the website  hentitugas.airselangor.com for more information.

“Air Selangor will carry out maintenance work that has been delayed since 2019. This work is important to prevent unwanted incidents such as the leakage of the (Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant Phase 1 or LRA SSP1) SSP1 pipe last year,” he said.

The maintenance works will be carried out at 9am onwards on October 13, with supply expected to be restored in stages at 5pm on October 14.

A total of 998 areas will be affected, covering the Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langar and Kuala Selangor regions.

During the work, Air Selangor will be mobilising 105 water tankers to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises such as hospitals, dialysis centres and funeral parlours.

It will also provide 18 public water taps from October 14 to 16 for customers in need of water supply during the period.

Similarly, four local water filling stations will be made available for commercial customers to purchase water supplies, which they can also collect using their own water tankers.

Assistance will also be provided by state assemblyman’s offices, councillors and Team Selangor volunteers.
