385 unemployed persons find jobs via Selangor career fairs

SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — A total of 385 jobseekers were hired through the ‘Jelajah Selangor Bekerja 2021’ (Selangor Jobs Exploration 2021) career fair, which ended today after a one-month tour throughout the state.

State executive councillor for youth development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said 932 other individuals were called for a second interview.

“In the five out of six series of tours, a total of 1,891 participants attended for interviews.

“Out of that number, a total of 385 participants (20 per cent) were hired. While a total of 932 participants (49.3 per cent) were eligible for a second interview,” he said in a statement issued today.

He said a total of 146 employers took part in the five series of tours that covers Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Hulu Langat and Petaling.

The job fair started its tour from October 23 until November 27.

Today is the last series of Jelajah Selangor Berkerja 2021 and it was again held in the Shah Alam district at the Dewan Jubli Perak in the Selangor State Secretariat Building.

Mohd Khairuddin said over 8,000 job opportunities were offered on the last tour today.

Among the employers involved are the Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional (Proton), DRB-Hicom, Parkson Corporation, Old Town Kopitiam, Nando’s Chickenland, Prudential BSN Takaful and others.

He said the career fair was organised as part of the Selangor government’s target to reduce the state’s unemployment rate from 4.4 per cent in 2021 to 3.7 per cent in 2022.

“The organisation of the Jelajah Selangor Berkerja 2021 is one of the efforts to achieve this goal,” he said.
