Covid-19: 97.6 pct of new cases in categories one, two

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 — A total of 5,017 cases or 97.6 per cent of the 5,143 new Covid-19 daily cases reported today are in categories one (asymptomatic) and two (mild symptoms), said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said 126 cases or 2.4 per cent, meanwhile, were in categories three, four and five (having pneumonia, requiring oxygen supplementation and on ventilators).

He added that the total number of infections in the country now stood at 2,551,452.

“A total of 526 cases are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while 250 others required respiratory assistance,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham said a total of 4,551 recovery cases were recorded to take the total number of recoveries to 2,455,767.

He also pointed out that three new clusters were detected, taking the number of active clusters to 250, while the country’s infectivity rate or R-Naught (Rt) remained at 1.05 yesterday.
