SHAH ALAM, Nov 13 — More students under the Program Tuisyen Rakyat Selangor (PTRS) are expected to receive SIM cards prepared by the state government

Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said they requested SIM card allocations from the quota of other categories, seeing as how the initiative greatly benefits the student category.

“The state government allocated 7,000 cards for PTRS participants, and we added another 2,500, which was obtained from the small traders category. In total 9,500 will receive these SIM cards.

“We saw there is a need to add more, which will be given to students. We may take it from hawkers, as well as the allocations for assemblymen,” he said to SelangorKini.

On August 4, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said up to 70,000 Selangorians are expected to receive the SIM cards, which come with free Internet data for 12 months.

Asides from PTRS students, he said the initiative also targets Yayasan Selangor borrowers, as well as Kolej Universiti Islam Selangor and Universiti Selangor students.

The initiative will also benefit Selangor Technical Skills Development Center students, online traders under e-Bazar Selangor, farmers, and single mothers.
